Who we are

The SuperFusion team, thanks to a background in HTS characterization and in irradiation experiments, investigates and proposes solutions to the challenges to HTS exploitation in the fusion environment and beyond.

Understanding, predicting and mitigating radiation damage in complex oxides is a task that requires a combination of advanced modeling, exploiting modern High Performance Computers, and carefully conducted experiments. This combined experimental-thoretical approach is at the heart of our methodology.

Developing and derisking HTS technology for high field magnets requires understanding the properties and peculiarities of REBCO tapes and re-inventing magnet technology for these new materials. From quench prevention to coil winding and cooling we study HTS magnet technology with an integrated approach: based on the material properties and aimed towards practical engineering solutions.

We favour and promote a collaborative approach, both with academic and research institutions and with private companies.
